HOME

Image
When we think of Home, a beautiful family living in a peaceful apartment comes to mind. We often picture a happy couple with some amazing kids. While many of us seem to have an idea of what a home is, very few truly understand and experience the true essence of a 'Home'.
Many unconsciously walk around the world searching for a 'HOME'
AHome, I believe, is where you're shown true love and care. Home is that 'place' where you're Accepted and Loved for who you are. Home is where your heart finds rest and peace. Where you belong, where you're treasured and treated like a million bucks!  Home is where your Strengths are emphasised over your Weaknesses and your Goodness before your Faults.  Home is where you find your true and best friends. Where you find strength in times of weakness, courage when fear comes knocking, help in times of need and motivation when you're discouraged.  It's therefore not surprising that some find 'home' in the …

Who Are You? (Part 2)

Getting to Know Your True Self
In the first part of this post, we understood that inadequate self knowledge is one of the challenges that this generation face.  So then, how do you get to know your true self? In spite of the many philosophies and theories of self-knowledge available today, I strongly believe that the only sure way to understand ourselves is by viewing our lives from the Creator's Perspective. We truly start knowing ourselves when we look at our lives through God's eye. Just as you'll only understand a product from the specifications given by the producer, our lives can only make sense when we look at it from God's viewpoint.
The very first thing we must understand is that our lives are significant. in essence, our lives are profoundly important. You are not insignificant. In spite of what you've been through, you are not worthless. You might ask, how do I know this? The answer is very simple; God doesn't create worthless things. You may want …

Living By Principles

Image
Some few weeks back, a friend told me a story that illustrates the importance of living a principles-centred life. He was invited by a friend to try out something he felt he shouldn’t be involved in. ordinarily, he knew it’d be a wrong decision if he gives in, however, he found it difficult to make the right decision. This, I realized, was because he didn’t have a standard to measure his decisions in that area. Prior to that time, he simply held a belief as per what is the right thing to do but no strong moral conviction towards it. He then concluded by saying something really important “I decided there won’t be a next time”. He probably made this statement having firmly resolved to stick to a strict moral code whenever he’s faced with such decision.  Most people live almost every area of their lives doing the same thing – they just allow the social norms to dictate their beliefs and values.
Principles are like foundations upon which we build our actions and reactions. They are what…

Character

Image
Think of character as having the benefits of a house’s foundation during a huge storm. If the foundation is strong enough, it will stand firm when the waters come. But when it is weak, the house will come down crumbling even at the slightest wind. That’s why it’s important that we develop a good character. It is often said that hard work will take you to the top but character will keep you there.
 "Many succeed momentarily by what they know  Some succeed temporarily by what they do Few succeed permanently by who they are”
What then is character?  The Cambridge Advanced Learners Dictionary defines it as “the particular combination of qualities in a person that makes them different form others”. In the simplest terms, character is “who you are”, nothing more nothing less. It is often widely described as who you are when no one else is watching. Your character is what defines you. In other words, your true value can be more than what your degrees, reputation and even your pay check …

Personal Growth 101

Image
The first time many of us heard the word 'growth' was most likely in basic school where it was described as one of the characteristics of living things. Thereafter, it seemed the word almost disappeared from our vocabularies.
What is growth anyway? Growth is simply the process you go through to become your true and best self. It is the season between birth and fulfilment. This short piece, of course, can't explain everything about growth but it'll suffice to give you a head-start and set you on the never-ending  journey of personal growth.
First, we need to understand that life is really all about growth. A man once said "Development of character is the main business of life". How true! The essence of our existence is that we keep growing into our true and best selves.
It is also important that we realize that growth is intentional. Wee don't grow by simply living, by accident or chance. Growth is intentional. Some erroneously believe we grow automat…

God's Witness To The Gospel

Image
Good morning precious saint of God. It brings me great joy to forward this message from my desk to you.

Hebrews 2:3-4
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

 4  God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will

There's a response from God Almighty to the preaching of the gospel.

To start with, what is the gospel? To answer that,

1 Corinthians 15:1-5
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

 2  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

 3  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ DIED for our sins according to the scriptures;

 4  And that he was BURIED, and that HE ROSE again the third …

Do The Needful

Image
Why don't you stop murmuring?
When will you end your complaints?
You have now grown to become the captain of "Team-Excuse" and
The Leader of the "Ain't gonna do that" group.

Hear you Lazybones!
How long will you sleep?
When will you wake up?
How long will you continue to sit in the congregation of the idles?
You desire to eat, but you have not laboured for it.
Even the ants labour hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.
Your voice keeps calling out for help, waiting for the good Samaritan (Most likely a bouncer) to carry you up while you fold your arms around your body.
My dear, you will remain on the same spot till rapture comes.

Do the needful!
Mr Athlete, do your training;
Omo Campus, read your book;
Mr Farmer, arise and plant your seeds;
The believer, start praying and not just wishing.

You may say 'Mr writer, don't you know it is not easy?'
Smiling at your question... Yes! I know. In fact, more than you think you know, but then, yo…

Consistency and Discipline: An Athlete's Story

Image
After some quality time of diligent study and close observation of successful people, I've discovered that one of the principal ingredients of success is Consistency that comes from Discipline. Consistency and Discipline are some of the "common denominators" of success. In essence, you'll hardly find a truly successful person who's not Consistent in one or a few undertakings. Consistency comes when self-discipline is practiced in any area of life.
Elbert Hubbard defined self discipline as "The ability to  make yourself do what you should do,  when you should do it, whether you feel like it  or not". It means subjecting yourself to necessities required to achieve your goals. Consistency is however marked by regularity and steady continuity. It means the ability to continue doing the right things that grows you. Truth is, very few people possess this great qualities. Moreover, the good news is that they are skills anyone can learn irrespective of their b…
