How Can I Avoid Temptation

Temptation is part of life. It is not a sin to be tempted, but it’s how we respond to temptation that is important.

Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation” (ESV). When Jesus Christ was tempted in the wilderness, He responded to Satan by quoting Scripture. Be prepared for temptation by learning God’s Word and by praying that you will not give in to tempting thoughts or follow through on tempting actions.

Here’s an encouraging verse: “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV).

Taking God’s way out might mean fleeing the scene of temptation (1 Timothy 6:11) or staying where you are and resisting it (James 4:7).

Confession Of A Female Teenager Part 2

I Still decide to call it LOVE, like the rest of my peers do. I chat with him for long hours and have a smile plastered to my face all through. I laugh out loud in between, and blush sometimes as well. These adults think I have a problem, but hey! the case is the same with many other teenagers like me. This is a proof that I am perfectly fine. In fact, any teenager that doesn't feel this way has a problem. Yes! a problem.
Whenever I see him, I feel butterflies in my tummy. I really can't explain it. All I know is I just want to hold his hands, hug him tight, look into his eyes, hear him call my name, tell me sweet things and just be around him. Every time I get the chance to do these things, my heart gets to beat twice faster than normal, my legs become shaky, my palms sweaty and blushing comes so easy... Its a cool feeling, I must admit. Many nights, after a pleasurable day with him, all I do is lay down on my bed and smile at sweet memories. So much joy feels my heart. My friends admit to the same too. In fact, some of them have taken it up the notch by going into Kissing and  Caressing. They even say a better feeling is derived from these than mere holding of hands and hugging. Well, I couldn't have agreed to that, until I tried it too! And really! Its just the very best feeling you could ever have!
Now I wonder why almost evey adult speak against these things. They give pleasure to us and make us happy. Without these things, expression of how we feel is almost impossible. They call it SATISFACTION OF FLESHY DESIRES. We call it EXPRESSION OF LOVE. The same way our parents will not understand, these Pastors and Seminarians too will not.
Just when I decided to extend my newly found joy to the members of my family, they began to wonder what the source of my sudden joy and happiness was. It was just then the frustrations became more. They blamed my every mistake on my addiction to my phone so they seized it more often. They restricted my outings and did all sorts. Come to think of it, it wasn't really my phone I was addicted to, but the person that makes me use the phone- My Love. Now, my phone has been seized, and I can't reach him. One whole month! Isn't that just too cruel of my parents??? I think its just obvious now! They don't want me happy. Period!
I miss him daily. My heart is with him. They say the feeling will pass, I say this feeling will never go away. I say I will love him forever. No matter what I will still love him. I'm sure he'll be missing me too. I'll get my phone back in a month and I'll reach out to my Love and tell him how much I miss him. I'm counting down to that beautiful day.
NB.. Part3 will reach you all by tomorrow. Thanks for reading through.

Christian Rapper Renounces His Faith in Jesus

Christian rapper Jahaziel denounced Christianity three days before the celebration of Christ's birth.
"A short while ago I turned away from 20 years as a professing Christian. I had a good job with a church organization, a house provided by the church, a large social circle of likeminded people, a career in gospel music, a worldwide fan base, a respected reputation & status within Christian and non Christian circles," Jahaziel wrote on Facebook.
In 2013, the U.K.-based rapper told CrossRhythms he was shying away from fame for the sake of the gospel.
Now, the tables have turned. The man Rapzilla called one of the most important U.K. artists in the history of Christian hip-hop has not only renounced his faith, he's questioning the foundation Christianity is built on.
In the Facebook post, Jahaziel told followers he cannot believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God.
He later posted a follow-up for those who were questioning his decision.
"You can believe the bible and its God all you want but to me he just demands my fear because he cannot earn my respect. I cannot possibly agree that he is love unless I ignore all the men, women and little children he has slaughtered throughout the entire bible," the post reads.
"But maybe some peoples Christian lenses won't allow them to see that - cool. Mine didn't either for s (sic) long time. I have tasted and seen - and my conclusion is that Christianity (it's flawed book, bloodthirsty god and mythical savior) i have found unsatisfactory and unworthy of my allegiance or worship unless by threatening to kill me if I don't - as Christianity does."
The statement seems ironic from the same man who penned the following lyrics:
Help me God
(So help me God) So if you hear I got my eyes to the hills
Tho' when's cometh my help
If I seem strong you know they strict fane of myself
You don't know how I fell them fell flat on my face
Crawled back on my knees he put me back by his grace
Now I'm back on the case
Closin' the mouths on my critics
They haters, doubters and (cynics) told me I'm out of my lyrics
But God's far from finished with me
In fact he just started

Living in an Increasingly Secular Society: How Taking Religion out of Schools Promotes Ignorance - Dr. Paul Kengor

Another “Holiday Season” is behind us. And every such season, the purge of religion in our public schools just gets worse. In fact, the season now serves to remind us of one thing for certain: the God-purgers are on an unyielding secular crusade that gets more self-righteous ever year.

This past season seemed to reach new levels of absurdity. What we’re seeing now is remarkable not only for its vigorous assault against everything religious, but for the apparent willingness by secularists to embrace ignorance and sophistry in the process. They are willing to make their students—whom they’re supposed to educate—dumb about historical reality and to look downright silly in the process. I’ll illustrate with two examples, starting with this past Thanksgiving, the kick-off of the long “Holiday Season.”

It was fascinating to observe the new tendency by our educators to frame Thanksgiving Day as about anything but giving thanks to God. I detailed this at length a few weeks ago, and will not revisit it fully here, but I checked out the Thanksgiving Day lesson at the website education.com, a go-to source for teachers. On the main page was a lesson plan titled, “Giving Thanks for Thanksgiving.” The lesson did back-flips in a painfully obvious attempt to mention giving thanks to anything but God. There were bountiful references to Native Americans, corn, stuffing, and turkeys, but nothing of the Almighty. The Creator even got trumped by cranberry sauce.

There was nothing in the “lesson” plan about the salient historical fact that the Pilgrims fled religious persecution, that their Thanksgiving feast was about giving thanks to God, and that Presidents Washington and Lincoln—not to mention a long line of White House successors, including the most liberal among them, from Woodrow Wilson to FDR—honored a national day of Thanksgiving for that reason.

This is historical fraud, forgery, perjury. I ask my secular-liberal friends: Is it any wonder why so many people are homeschooling? You can dislike religion, if you prefer. You can even despise it. But a truly “inclusive” education cannot exclude such essential historical facts.

So, what kind of child are these secularists educating? One who will not even learn what the original Thanksgiving was truly about or why our early presidents enacted the day to begin with.

As for Christmas, where do I start to illustrate the madness?

Well, this year the award goes to an elementary school in Kentucky, where the Constitutional geniuses at the Johnson County School District censored from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” the subversive section where Linus recites the Gospel of Luke’s nativity narrative. Sure, the school couldn’t avoid the title “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” but it would not dare tread on any explanation of what “Christmas” is.

The irony here is rich. Consider that Linus’ dialogue is prompted by a question from Charlie Brown, who in exasperation pleads: “Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?” Linus explains, giving an accurate answer from the New Testament. Most ironic, Linus holds forth in front of fellow students in a public-school auditorium.

Like students today, Linus’ friends are free to believe or not believe, but at least they will not be ignorant.

It makes me wonder what this school’s officials would have preferred that the kids watch instead. I have some suggestions for their curriculum next year: How about the old Rankin-Bass productions? “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” has some intriguing stuff about a Winter Warlock. The old guy officiates the first Christmas wedding (so I’m told) in the woods around the North Pole with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Or, how about “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?” The kids can take notes wide-eyed as they learn about how Santa and Rudolph swept down and saved Christmas not only for the entire world that year (no Christmas that year otherwise) but even for the poor souls on the Island of Misfit Toys.

Hey, at least Jesus Christ is avoided. That’s the chief goal, right?

In sum, what all of this makes plain is that our secularists prefer not only ignorance over religion for their students, but sophistry.

And why? Because they want to fundamentally transform, to borrow from the signature phrase of our current president. To really fundamentally transform America and the culture, they need to remove as much religion as possible, period.

And when they do, this is the gift of ignorance and sophistry they bestow.

WOW!!!!! Man Who Entered Church with Gun Intending to Take Lives Gives Life to Christ

On New Year’s Eve, a man entered a church in North Carolina with a gun, intending to commit a terrible crime, but instead he ended up giving his life to Christ.

According to Christian Today, pastor Larry Wright who leads Heal the Land Outreach Ministries in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is a retired Army sergeant.

When the man came into the church near midnight on New Year’s Eve wielding a gun, Wright was ready to tackle him to prevent any harm coming to the 60 worshippers gathered in the church.

However, the man had a change of heart and ended up listening to the rest of Wright’s sermon. Wright took the man’s weapon and handed it to a deacon.

“I finished the message, I did the altar call and he stood right up, came up to the altar, and gave his life to Christ,” Wright said. “I came down and prayed with him and we embraced. It was like a father embracing a son.”

The unidentified would-be attacker said he had come to the church intending to do harm, but God had spoken to him, telling him to seek prayer instead.

The man had recently gotten out of prison and was trying to start his life over.

“It’s so hard to describe, to explain the excitement and love of God in the room,” said Wright. “This man came in to do harm and he has given his life to Christ.”

INDIA: 15 Christians Arrested While Praying

Fifteen Christians were arrested during New Year’s prayers at a church in the Indian state of Karnataka.

According to The Christian Post, a radical Hindu mob surrounded the Christians just before they were arrested.

They have since been released.

Sajan K. George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians, said that the Christians are “vulnerable and subjected to harassment and persecution by both extremist as well as authorities, who are responsible for protecting citizens. Clearly, Christians are considered second-class citizens in secular India."

AsiaNews first reported that police arrived to arrest the 15 Christians as a way to “protect” them from the mob of Hindu radicals.

Police told the Christians they must notify authorities before any prayer services.

George said: “(The police) acted against people who were praying in a private place. The police should have only dispersed the mob that had gathered outside the church."

There are many reports that Christianity is being restricted in villages in India with many being forced to reconvert to Hinduism.

In response to the conflicts, International Christian Concern has launched a petition asking authorities in more than 50 villages to stop targeting Christians and charging them with crimes that have little or no evidence.

“We are joining our voice with our Indian brothers and sisters in Christ to call on the Prime Minister of India to specifically address the banning of Christianity. We believe in a society which touts religious tolerance and freedom. No one should be banned from practicing their faith freely. Sign our petition and let Christians in India know they are not alone in this fight," the group said of the petition.

ISIS Attacks Christian Restaurants in Syria, Killing 16

The Islamic State has carried out terrorist attacks in Syria which targeted Assyrian Christian restaurants and took the lives of 16 people.

According to CBN news, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for three bombings that hit Christian restaurants in Qamishli in Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah. The bombings killed 16 and wounded more than 45 others.

Hasakah mourned the victims of the attacks by cancelling its New Year’s Eve celebrations.

“We dedicate this evening to prayers for the victims of those attacks," a joint statement by the Assyrian-Syriac Churches of Hasakah province said. "We pray for our region and country amid the bloody war that claims lives of civilians everyday."

Father Touni Hannah condemned the attacks and admonished people to avoid gathering in public places so that future attacks might be avoided.

“We hope the year 2016 would bring peace to Syria and the region after years of bloodshed," he said.

Largest Statue of Jesus in Africa Unveiled in Nigeria

The largest statue of Jesus in Africa was unveiled on Friday in the country of Nigeria, with hundreds of spectators present.
According to Christian Today, the statue is nearly 30 feet tall and weighs 40 tons. It has been named “Jesus de Greatest.”
It was commissioned by a local businessman named Obinna Onunoha who had previously funded the building of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Abajah, Nigeria. The statue was erected on the grounds of St. Aloysius.
When asked why he commissioned the statue Onunoha stated, "Asking why I constructed this statue is like asking how do I came to this world, I am a Christian and a Catholic and Jesus statue represents my faith. I believe we are here on earth for different purposes and each person moves with his/her instincts, and I was motivated to do this to build up the faith of this community."
The population of Nigeria is almost evenly split between Christians and Muslims. The terrorist attacks of Muslim extremist group Boko Haram have caused unrest, especially in the northern region of the country.
Onunoha believes that the Jesus statue will bring tourists to the church to see the statue.
Bishop Augustine Tochukwu Okwuoma of St. Aloysius said the statue will be a “great symbol of Christian faith.”

CONFESSIONS OF A FEMALE TEENAGER PART 1

I've spent a few years here on earth, and I have observed that everyone wants to be loved by someone. The love you show to yourself is not just enough. Even a toddler wants the love of those around him almost every time. We notice that when a child is ignored by those around him, he starts to cry or do disturbing things just to get the attention of those around him. Also, an aged mother wants the attention of her children. A wife craves for the love of her husband, and a young man find a woman he loves and starts planning marriage with her. Now just so we don't ignore a particular set of people, the TEENAGERS. We also crave for love and care and affection beyond that which our parents or siblings can give. It has also been observed that this kind if attention, adoration, admiration and affection can only come from the opposite sex. At one point in the life if a young boy or girl, he or she begins to get infuriated at every slightest thing and angry anytime he or she cannot have his or her way. But despite the mood swings and irritation towards parents, teachers and siblings, there is always that one person who just makes u smile. It feels like that is the only person that can understand you. You just love and enjoy that person's company and that happens to be all that matters to you. WE call it LOVE. They say its LUST or INFATUATION. If the only problem they had was the name it was called, I wouldn't have been bothered. But they say its dangerous and could lead to sin eventually. Parents, Seminarians, Teachers and even Pastors keep ringing it in our ears so loudly, as though they were aware of our "paroles" which we mentioned nothing to them about, especially our parents. Now I wonder, if this thing I feel is really wrong. How about every single student in my  class that feel the same way... could we all be wrong at the same time?? Now I get it! Our parents doesn't know how it feels. Probably these kind of feelings were not existing yet when they were teenagers. Or could it be that they don't just want me to be happy?  How can anyone say that these feelings are dangerous when it brings joy to my heart and pleasure to my soul?
Whether or not my parents agree to this feeling I have for him, I won't give it up. I would be empty without this love. I would return to sadness and anger with no source of joy or laughter without my Love. He is the reason why I am happy. I CAN'T GIVE THIS UP.

The Essence of a Spirit-Led life

HEBREWS 12:18-29

“And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain” (Hebrew 12:27). A shepherd boy, David went to the battle front to see his brothers and to convey his father’s goodwill message to them.

On arrival, he saw Goliath, the arch- enemy of his country, terrorizing Israel and mocking their God. He elected to go fight the enemy, and he was decked with all the paraphernalia of war by King Saul. But he couldn’t move. He needed to be free; he requested that all such shakable things must be put out.

He went after the enemy with one unshakable thing – undeniable faith in God Almighty. And he was victorious! In our text today, Paul the apostle talks about the willingness of God to shake away every immaterial thing hanging on our lives. God expects us to put on His righteous nature. He does not tolerate double loyalty.

In the Christian race, moderation is required from believers. Recourse to excess luggage is not permitted. Paul said the essence of shedding off the shakable things is to enable us “serve God acceptably, with reverence and great fear.” He noted that failure to do so would attract God’s displeasure because He is “a consuming fire.”

Today, you must take candid stock of your life and point out all those “foreign bodies” in your life compromising the Christian life. All categories of sin are shakable materials that should not be allowed to have a place in your life. Even so, excellent virtues must be allowed to dwell and abound within. They are the unshakable things that nurture a life of godliness. Why not put these on always like a vesture?

Thought for the day: Virtues not vices define the worth of every man.

The need for holiness

PSALM 101:1-8

Sometimes, people wonder what constitute holy living. “If I say I am holy, what does this mean?” they ask. To some, holiness is a kind of abstract experience which is kind of difficult to grasp or explain. They think it only exists in the heart and in dogma but cannot be translated into everyday living. There are those who completely rule out the possibility of holy living in this present world.

Our passage, however, gives us a practical definition and demonstration of holiness. It shows that it is a possibility in the life of every Christian. King David, in our text, made a clear decision backed up by a strong determination to be holy.

His holiness affected his associations and relationships. He will have nothing to do in the way of intimate relationship or close association with the ungodly who is wicked, deceitful, slanderous, proud and boastful. He will only keep company and do business with the faithful who walk in a perfect way. In this, he shows that holiness is living right. We can never be holy except we decide to be.

Though the Lord has graciously provided for us means by which we can be holy, this cannot come to us unless we are willing and decisive about it. Holy living is the practical responsibility of every believer. We must make a daily determination to be holy both in the secret of our homes and in public glare.

Like David, we must be determined not to set any unclean thing before our eyes. We cannot expect to be holy in our minds and thoughts if we continually gaze on unclean things on the TV, Internet, handsets or literature. Holiness will not only affect our attitude, character and conduct, but will also touch our associations.

We cannot successfully maintain holy life on a daily basis if all our very close and intimate associates are ungodly. When we seek close friendship only with the Christ-like, it helps us safeguard our experience.

Thought: Practical holiness of life is a must
