God Wants the Best Career for You, So Trust in His Plan - Billy Graham

God wants what is best for you, both in your personal and professional life, the Rev. Billy Graham writes.
Graham, founder of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, wrote in a recent post for the Kansas City Star that because God cares about our future, we should put our trust in Him that things will work out according to His plan.
"The most important advice I can give you is to seek God's will for your future. God knows all about you, and he made you into the person you are. He knows your gifts and abilities, and he also knows your limitations. Why not seek his plan for your life?" Graham writes.
It is especially important to trust in God's plan for the future because he loves all of His children and wants the best for each of them.
"God loves you, and because he loves you, you can trust your life and your future in his hands," the evangelical leader writes.
To illustrate God's desire for us to have the best, Graham points to Proverbs 3:5-6, which reads: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
To better know God's will, Graham encourages Christians to pray every day, and keep their hearts open to Christ-like guidance from others or from inside themselves.
"All you need to know is the next step, and that may be all God shows you right now. But he can be trusted to show you every other step," Graham explains.
Fellow evangelical leader Joyce Meyer has also spoken on God's plan, writing in an Op-Ed for The Christian Post that God is our father, as seen through the name Jehovah Jireh, meaning "the Lord our provider."
"The Lord is your Provider. He loves you and He has a good plan for your life. He wants to bless you so you can fulfill His plan and purpose [...] so you can really enjoy your life. And in His Word, He tells us who He is and how we can access everything we need through Christ," Meyer, founder of Joyce Meyer Ministries, explains.
The Bible points out all of the ways in which God is our provider, Meyer continues, referencing Psalm 91, in which God is described as "Our shelter, refuge and hiding place," 2 Corinthians 1:3 when he is described as "the one who comforts us," Psalm 103:3 when he is called "Our healer," and James 1:5 when he is described as "the source of wisdom."
"Trust God to meet every need in your life today. He wants to be your healer, comforter, wisdom, peace, joy – anything and everything you need. He wants you to live in His grace, forgiveness, mercy and strength. Rest in Him with confidence that He is the Lord your Provider!" Meyer concludes.

Pope Francis Joins Lecrae, Hillsong at Historic 1 Million-Strong 'Together 2016' DC Event

Evangelical leaders are calling on 1 million Christians to gather together in the nation's capital next month for prayer and worship at a historic event called "Together 2016."
Inspired by Nick Hall, the founder of PULSE, a prayer and evangelism movement to empower the church and awaken the culture to Jesus, Americans are being urged to unite on the National Mall on July 16 to offer prayer that God will change the hearts of a divided America.
Adding his name to the lineup of pomenant guest speakers and musicians is Pope Francis, who will deliver a video message addressing the crowd.
"We are humbled and honored by his involvement and are eager to share his message with the crowd that gathers at Together 2016," Hall said in a statement to The Christian Post, reacting to the announcement that the pope has added his name to the list of speakers. "That His Holiness would choose to speak into this historic day is a testament to the urgency and the need for followers of Jesus to unite in prayer for our nation and our world."

'Why Doesn't God Tell You Why Something Happens?' - Pastor Rick Warren

Christians who are in constant pursuit of answers from God to explain why things happen in life lack contentment and become increasingly frustrated when their questions go unanswered, says Pastor Rick Warren.
God doesn't tell us why things have happened in our life because "he's testing [us]," Warren, senior pastor of Saddleback Church in Orange County, California, reveals in his Daily Hope devotional on June 8. "He's testing to see if you will let go of control and learn to be content, whether he explains it or not."
Warren adds that even if God did offer an explanation, people likely wouldn't understand it, because His divine plan is beyond our ability to comprehend. Additionally, knowing the reason why doesn't ease the pain.

"When God is silent in your life, you're going through a test. When you don't hear God and he feels like a million miles away, that is a test! The teacher is always silent when the students take a test," the megachurch pastor writes. "When God is silent in your life, your faith is being tested. Will you let go of control, or will you grab on more tightly? Will you learn to be content?"
Warren concludes by emphasizing that ultimately, people don't need God's explanation, they just need His presence to get through difficult times.
The megachurch pastor offered a similar perspective on trusting God's plan after the death of his 27-year-old son, Matthew, who died by suicide in 2013.
Warren told CNN's Piers Morgan that following his son's death, he never questioned his faith, but he did question God's plan.
"I never questioned my faith in God. I questioned God's plan. There's a big difference. I know God is a good God. ... But not everything that happens in the world is God's will. Everything that happens in the world God allows, He permits, because it couldn't happen without His permission. But we live in a world where there are free choices, so if I choose to do wrong, I can't blame God for that. So God isn't to blame for my son's death. My son took his own life. It was his choice," Warren said in the interview.
Rick Warren's wife, Kay Warren, has also spoken on her son's death, saying that although she endured a difficult grieving period, she does believe there is always the possibility of hope.
"There's hope," Kay Warren said in the CNN interview. "It's so important that people know, no matter how desperate their despair, there is hope, and not to give up."

New 'Ben-Hur' Movie Trailer Features Jesus Appearance

The first trailer of the major Paramount Pictures/MGM motion picture remake of "Ben-Hur" was released this Wednesday. Along with exciting scenes of rivalry and competition, the studio included a glimpse of Jesus Christ on the cross.
The trailer journeys from Ben-Hur's days of slavery, to his shipwreck, to the epic race between the rival brothers. In the midst of the violent action-packed compilation, Jesus Christ is seen on the cross.

Hitting theaters nationwide on August 12, "Ben-Hur" is set to include a new and improved chariot race for the ages. With Christian themes of justice, liberty and radical forgiveness, it tells the classic story of Judah Ben–Hur.
Played by Jack Huston, Ben-Hur is a prince who was falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. As a result he was stripped of his title and separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi). He was eventually forced into slavery and after a year at sea he re-emerges.
The two brothers decide to settle their differences with a chariot race and actor Morgan Freeman steps in as Ben-Hur's mentor, who sponsors and trains him for the monumental race.
The story takes a breathtaking turn of events when Ben-Hur's journey back to his homeland to seek revenge leads him to a chance encounter with Jesus of Nazareth (Rodrigo Santoro). The meeting transforms his life and leads him to discover grace, mercy and ultimately, redemption.
"Ben-Hur" is based on the 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of Christ by Lee Wallace. The most familiar telling of the story was the classic flick starring Charlton Heston as Ben-Hur in the William Wyler movie. The 1959 film won a record-breaking 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, a husband-wife duo who have had great success in bringing biblical content to television and film, teamed up for the remake.
"Ben-Hur (2016)" was filmed in Matera, Italy — the same vicinity that Gibson used for his 2004 massive hit "The Passion of the Christ."
Downey revealed at a private event that The Christian Post attended in New York City last year that even though the film is a complete revamp, the strong message of faith would still be delivered as it was in the original.
The "Touched By an Angel" actress said Ben-Hur's encounters with Jesus Christ completely turned his life upside down.
"Ultimately [Judah Ben-Hur] brings a hardened heart until the end of the movie where he's angry and has a desire for revenge. And through an encounter with Jesus he ultimately lays this down and it's an extraordinary moment in the film," said Downey.
As the story goes, Ben-Hur gives Jesus water while he's being taken to be crucified. Ben-Hur is left in a state of shock after his brief encounter with Jesus because he hears Jesus from the cross say the infamous scripture "Father forgive them, they know not what they do."
Downey described that Ben-Hur's moment of transformation was where he finally understands that "the only way forward is forgiveness. And he has this moment of conversion and he drops to his knees."
"Ben-Hur" hits theaters August 12.

If I Had One More Sermon to Preach, This Is What I'll Say - Joyce Meyer

If she had one more message to preach about, it would be to encourage Christians to "love, love, and then love some more," inspirational Christian speaker Joyce Meyer says.
During a recent guest sermon at Life.Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Meyer explained that love is the most important thing Jesus said we have to do for ourselves, for others, and for Him.
Meyer, founder of Joyce Meyer Ministries, says that a turning point in her life was learning that it is impossible to be both selfish and happy, saying that although she didn't have financial stresses and had a good husband and children, she was unable to be happy because she was too self-involved.
Then, God spoke to her, telling her "you're not happy because you're selfish."
"It's just not possible to have yourself on your mind all the time and be happy," Meyer says.
She points specifically to John 13:35, which calls on Christians to show their faith to others through love: "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Non-Christians are "not going to know us by our church attendance or by the bumper sticker in our car," Meyer explains. "The only thing that's going to convince the world that Jesus is real is if we who call ourselves Christians can learn to walk in love everywhere we go."
The evangelical leader goes on to say that Christians need to simplify their understanding of love. "Love is not a sermon, it's not a theory, it's not a book, it's how we treat people," she says.

Nigeria: Pastor’s Wife Stabbed to Death for Insulting Muhammad

Attackers stabbed to death the wife of a Nigerian pastor last week after she reportedly insulted the Muslim prophet Muhammad.

According to The Christian Post, Bridget Abahime, 74, was followed and killed at a market in Kano. Nigerian police have said that they have arrested two suspects in the murder.

"This barbarism must stop now," said the Christian Association of Nigeria’s spokesman, the Rev. John Hayab.

Also, the Muslim Rights Concern said the violence was “preposterous, barbaric and unIslamic."

Said Nigeria’s Muslim President Mohammadu Buhari: “"Let us ensure that we keep the peace, as justice will be done. Let us learn to respect each other's faith, so that we can know each other and live together in peace."

Christian pastors in the area have experienced much of the violence. In April, a church official was kidnapped and killed for preaching to Muslims.

But churches are not the only places being targeted.  Extremists have killed about 500 Christian farmers in Benue state in central Nigeria over land disputes.

"Entire villages were burned down completely by Fulani herdsmen. Unidentified corpses of these Christians were discovered, properties were looted by these Fulani invaders,” a Christian witness said. “As I speak to you, Fulani herdsmen are living in the deserted villages. I couldn't believe what my eyes saw."

Open Doors, the persecution watchdog group, has also reported that the killing of Christians in Nigeria has jumped by 62 percent in about a year.

Hindu Extremists Torture 29 Christians for Their Faith

Hindu extremists in India reportedly beat and tortured 29 Christians when they refused to convert to Hinduism.

The Christian Post reports that the Hindu extremists attempted to convert the Christians to Hinduism, but when they refused, the extremists beat them and drove them out of their homes.

According to Christian watchdog group Open Doors, “The villagers accused them saying – because of you our god and goddess are fleeing from our village. When they refused to forsake Christ they began to beat them."

"RSS activists [Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the Hindu ultra-nationalist paramilitary group ed], the BJP and Bajrang Dal [youth wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, VHP] led by former district chief, threw stones at members of the community, attacked our women and broke the church lamps," added pastor Emmanuel Ariel.

The number of Christians has been growing in India, but persecution of Christians has been growing as well.

Human rights groups have been calling on India’s government to do more to protect Christians and other minorities. The police reportedly did nothing to stop the recent attacks.

“Sadly persecution of Christians in India is rising. Hindu extremists have been attacking Christians more frequently and more violently. This is happening across India and has increased by 34 percent since 2013. Christians are also finding they are prevented from getting certain jobs, buying land or developing land in certain areas and even distributing Christian literature has led to arrests in cities like Delhi," Open Doors said.
